The annual fitness initiative, championed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, is returning this month for its fourth edition.
The Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020 will begin on October 30 and will run for 30 days until November 28. The city-wide fitness movement, established in 2017, encourages Dubai residents to be active for 30 minutes a day, for 30 days, with the goal of energizing the community to maintain healthier and more active lifestyles.
Throughout the month of the 30×30 challenge, residents can access a virtual calendar of events which includes sports, health, and wellness programs, in order to support those taking part in the challenge to complete their 30 days of fitness. Similar to previous years, there will be a plethora of free classes, challenges, and activities for individuals to engage in, so residents can chose to try a new activity or sport which they have not tried before. Several gyms and fitness centers across Dubai are also expected to participate in this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge with classes of Zumba, spinning, HIIT, Pilates, and yoga to be among the option for residents to choose from.
Previous years of the Dubai Fitness Challenge have proved extremely successful, with the 2019 edition hosting over 1.1 million participants. Dedicated fitness villages were opened at Kite Beach and Festival City Mall to welcome visitors for their daily exercise, as well a the option for virtual workouts too. Last year Joe Wicks, also known as the Body Coach made an appearance at the event and lead the region’s largest-ever HIIT class at Skydive Dubai. The Dubai Fitness Challenge website is also accessible for those who prefer to learn and engage in fitness and virtual activities from the comfort of their own homes.
